Join us for an online discussion of “Slavery and Islam,” by Jonathan A.C. Brown. Brown, a professor and the Prince Alwahleed bin Talal Chair of Islamic Civilization at Georgetown University, explores the moral and ultimately theological problem of slavery across the Jewish, Christian and primarily Islamic traditions. The discussion will be facilitated by Dr. Eve M Troutt-Powell. Dr. Eve M. Troutt Powell is a Christopher H. Browne Distinguished Professor of History at Penn University of Pennsylvania. She teaches the history of the modern Middle East and the history of slavery in the Nile Valley and the Ottoman Empire. 25 free books will be available to those who sign up. There is also a PDF version online.
