Teaching About Ghana

All teachers of grades K-5 are invited to attend our workshop, in person, on Saturday October 19th, focused on learning how to teach about Ghana. During this day-long workshop, teachers will have unique opportunities:
- To learn about Ghanaian languages, cultures, and history from Ghanaians;
- To receive free books and meet authors, including Tricia Elam Walker (author of Nana Akua goes to School), Alison Goldberg (author of Bottletops), Emily Williamson Ibrahim (author of Gizo Gizo, A Tale from the Zongo Lagoon), and Crystal Boateng, (author of numerous books about Ghana, including Afia the Ashanti Princess).
- To practice activities to do in the classroom
- To gain an introduction to Akan Twi, one of the Ghanaian languages
- To learn about Ghanaian artifacts that teachers can borrow from the center
- To sign up to invite a guest speaker to talk about Ghana in their classrooms
- Free lunch
- Attending teachers will receive certificates with 10 PDPs
